It has been reported that the University of Ibadan (UI) has canceled the 2019/2020 academic session. According to the report, this was part of resolutions reached at a meeting of the university’s Senate that was held on Thursday.
A Senate member who spoke to newsmen after the meeting disclosed that the institution will resume on Monday, January 18 for the conclusion of the 2018/2019 session.

The completion of the aborted 2018/2019 session will be by February after which a 3-week break will be given and resumption for the 2020/2021 session will follow.

It was also resolved that the institution will not admit candidates for the 2021/ 2022 academic session. The university is to inform JAMB not to list it in the JAMB brochure for the 2021/2022 session as candidates who applied to the university for the 2020/2021 session would be taken in the 2021/2022 session. However, this decision, exempts postgraduate students, aspirants of Distance learning programs, and direct entry students from affiliated institutions.
A resolution to set up committees to prepare and look at the modalities for the conduct of online classes, in some departments was equally taken at the meeting.
